The Illinois PGA Foundation announced today that the nomination process for the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame Class of 2019 is now open. The nomination application and instructions can be found online at ipga.com
. The deadline to receive nominations is January 4, 2019.
“Next year marks the 30th
anniversary of the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame,” said Carrie Williams, Executive Director of the Illinois PGA Foundation which oversees the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame. “Over the years, we’ve inducted many of the great leading individuals who have contributed to the rich history and tradition of the game of golf here in Illinois and look forward to adding more names to this roster in 2019.”
The new digital nomination process will allow nominators the ability to edit, revise and save work in progress and share access to the form with others who may also be providing information. Each nomination will be viewed and voted on by the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame Selection Committee in April 2019. Nominators or their designees of the top 10 candidates will then be invited to make an in-person presentation to the Selection Committee in May 2019. The 2019 Class will be selected from these 10 candidates and announced shortly after the presentations have been completed. The Illinois Golf Hall of Fame induction banquet will be held at The Glen Club, home of the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame, in October 2019 (exact date TBA).
“The state of Illinois is steeped in golf tradition and there are many deserving individuals from all categories of the game to consider for nomination,” said Tim Cronin, Illinois golf historian and chairman of the Illinois Golf Hall of Fame Selection Committee. “We encourage anyone interested in submitting a nomination to visit the website to learn about past inductees and exactly how to nominate someone new.”
The Illinois Golf Hall of Fame is a program of the Illinois PGA Foundation and the Selection Committee is comprised of leaders from the five allied golf associations in the Chicago area including: Chicago District Golf Association, Illinois Junior Golf Association, Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents, Western Golf Association and the Illinois PGA Section. Additional Selection Committee members represent the various entities of the golf business.
Nominations for all candidates not voted in for induction in the Class of 2019 will remain active for six years (three selection cycles) unless the candidate receives no votes in the first stage in which case the candidate will be removed from the ballot and eligible to be nominated again four years later (two selection cycles).
